Toyota, the third largest automotive manufacturer
in the world, strives to balance company growth and environmental
protection around the world through innovative breakthrough
technologies. One example of breakthrough technologies is
the fuel cell vehicle. Since 1992 Toyota has been developing
fuel cell technologies. In June 2001 Toyota introduced the
FCHV-4, a Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle based on the popular
Toyota Highlander mid-size sport utility vehicle. Operating
on hydrogen stored in high-pressure tanks, its Toyota-developed
fuel cell stack generates 90kW (122 hp) of electric power
and produces only water as a by-product. Toyota began leasing
the first six FCHVs in Japan and the United States on December
2, 2002, much earlier than originally planned. The earlier
launch reflects the successful results of a year of testing
in the two countries of the FCHV-4
prototype, and it is Toyota's response to society's expectations
for cleaner mobility solutions. BizPark invites you to come
see and touch the FCHV-4.
