RON HOSOGI

As principal of Hosogi & Associates, a consulting practice founded in 2006 and based in Seattle, Washington, Ron Hosogi works with business leaders to formulate strategic plans and creative solutions to address their greatest company challenges. Areas of specialization include preparing companies for solid long-term growth, international market expansion, and advisory for corporate organizational development.

Ron entered the technology industry in 1983, when he joined Microsoft Corporation to architect the company’s expansion into Asia. As Regional Director of Far East Operations, Hosogi founded Microsoft KK Japan in 1986, Microsoft CH Korea in 1987, and Microsoft Taiwan Corporation in 1989. After successfully establishing and managing these major subsidiary operations in Asia, Hosogi assumed leadership of Microsoft’s international OEM business in 1990, where as its director, he led sales and business development teams worldwide. During its growth phase, the OEM division was responsible for the widespread adoption of pre-installed Microsoft Windows on new personal computers.

In 1997, Hosogi established the Windows CE business unit, the precursor to the current global embedded and mobility device organization. Hosogi also worked at Microsoft Research, Redmond, where he acquired the North American FM subcarrier network and managed the Smart Personal Objects Technology (SPOT/MSN Direct) information products business. He then was appointed General Manager of the Japan Region in 2003, and was also named Executive Officer of Microsoft (KK) Company Limited, in Tokyo, Japan.

During the 22+ years at Microsoft, Hosogi has held a number of senior and executive positions for developing strategic initiatives and delivering positive results. He also successfully managed sales, marketing, operations, and product localization teams throughout his corporate career.

Prior to Microsoft Corporation, Hosogi held management positions at the General Electric Company (G.E.) in the United States. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business and economics from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1978.

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Hosogi currently resides in Seattle, Washington.

RAJ JASWA

Raj Jaswa is the President of TiE Silicon Valley, the largest nonprofit dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship. He was elected in 2003 and re-elected in 2005, and will step down upon reaching the term limit in 2008.

From 1996 to 2002, Raj served as co-founder, Chairman, and CEO of Selectica (Nasdaq: SLTC), an enterprise software company. In 2000, Raj was named to Forbes' list of "Top CEOs: Corporate America's Most Powerful People." During Raj's tenure, Selectica was named to the Forbes 500, Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500, Software 500, Inc 500, and Interactive Week 500. Selectica reached a peak market value of $5 billion in 2000.

From 1988 to 1996, Raj served as co-founder, President, and Director of Opti (Nasdaq: OPTI), and previously as EVP of Sales and Marketing. Opti was the world's largest supplier of PC chipsets. Opti reached a peak market value of $350 million in 1995.

Raj serves or has served on the Board of Directors of Jareva (acquired by Veritas), Blue Pumpkin Software (acquired by Witness Systems), FusionOps, and AppStream. Raj and wife Kalpana have charitable interests through the Jaswa Charitable Foundation, whose primary beneficiaries include the Blind Foundation for India, Chinmaya Mission, and Bidada Medical Camp.

Earlier in his career, Raj worked for Intel, General Electric, and Chips & Technologies. Raj received a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, a masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, and an M.B.A. from Stetson University

DR. EDWARD TSE

Dr. Edward Tse is Booz Allen Hamilton’s Managing Director for Greater China (Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei) since 1996. Dr. Tse has over twenty years of management consulting and senior corporate management experience. Harvard Business Review China calls him, ”one of the pioneers in China’s management consulting profession and one of the most experienced strategy gurus in China.” He was the partner-in-charge of the first authorized office in China among all international strategy consulting firms. He has advised over five hundred Chinese and foreign companies, on their strategies, organizations, transformation, M&As and alliances. His experiences encompass consumer products, media and entertainment, telecommunications, industrial goods, energy, financial services and transportation. He also consults to public sector organizations such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Chinese Government on issues related to policies, state-owned enterprise reform and competitiveness.

During his career, Dr. Tse has held a number of leadership positions including being Managing Partner, China for the Boston Consulting Group (1993-1996); Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Managing Director, Greater China Operations for Hong Kong Telecom (2000 – 2001) and part-time member of the Central Policy Unit of Hong Kong SAR Government (1998- 2000). He is also a Business Strategy Expert for Chief Executive China for over ten years; as well as a member of the Consultative Editorial Board of Harvard Business Review Chinese Edition. Currently he serves as an independent board member for Baoshan Iron & Steel Corp., an expert in the Expert Committee of China International Engineering Consulting Corporation (CIECC) and is Vice President and Professor at the Shanghai Institute of International Finance on a part time basis, as well as an advisory board member of Gridiron Capital Ltd.

Dr. Tse is a frequent speaker on Greater China’s business and regulations and author of over 60 articles and book sections on China. His new book on Chinese enterprises, Direction, will be released in 2007. He is one of regular speakers at the World Economic Forum summit meetings in Beijing over the years; one of lead facilitators of the China’s Travel and Tourism panel in the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, 2004; He was also the lead panelist on China Daily’s CEO Roundtable in China, having presented on the issue of Corporate Social Responsibilities and the future of Shanghai as an international metropolis (Vision 2020). In 2002 and 2003, he was the keynote speaker at the International Franchise Conference held in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. His articles frequently appear in publications such as Harvard Business Review Chinese edition; Forbes Chinese edition; Chief Executive China; China Entrepreneur; CEO&CIO; IT Times Weekly; New Marketing; China Daily and Oriental Morning Post.
